Scottish Youth Brass Band Festival - 26th November 2023

Clackmannan District Beginner Brass Band took part for the first time in the Scottish Youth Brass Band Festival. They performed in the Novice Section, comprising of 14 bands, and achieved a silver award.

Their program consisted of:  Fanfaranette, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Grace Kelly, Batman, Everything is Awesome and Bob the Builder.

The adjudicators had only nice comments about the band and gave really positive feedback on the performance.

Thank you to  everyone for their effort and commitment that they put in to the day to make it so successful. It was noted by one of the adjudicators that there were NO adults in our band, which makes their achievement even more note worthy.

Scottish Challenge Shield - 18th November 2023

Clackmannan District Brass Band competed at the Scottish Challenge Shield and were placed 3rd overall out of 26 competing bands.

To quote one of the adjudicators ......... Wow! From a field of 26 bands, across 4 sections the band were placed 3rd overall and picked up the prize for best 2nd section band too.

Principal Cornet player Lorraine McLeod was awarded The Paul Dornan Award for Best Principal Cornet player.

Congratulations must go to The Kirkintilloch Band on winning the contest and to their horn section for winning The Anthony Hope Memorial Cup.

Huge thanks must go to Paul Drury for all his efforts in preparing the piece for the contest. The work put in by all enabled the band to pull out a performance that was worthy of 3rd place. Thanks must also go to our bass guests Jaiden and Donald. Well done to all our brilliant soloists and whole band in general.

At our annual awards day in early November we had a solo and ensemble performance and competition section. This event is to recognise players for all sections of the organisation. We also had some long service awards given out on behalf of the Scottish Brass Band Association to Julie Johnston, Lorraine McLeod, Leslie Muir and John Muir.

The winners of the open playing competition were Graham Caldwell and Louise Kroegler playing the Flower Duet, with the Presidents award going to Shona Caldwell.
